Upper Ledge and Junkyard Project

The work from the Upper Ledge Rock pool to the Junk yard pool was completed on July 20, 21, and 22 by volunteers from the coalition and other interested parties. The work was done in conjunction with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Fifteen to twenty volunteers each day helped to construct three major mud seals in the creek, narrowing the flow of water in this largely flat area. Materials were provided locally, and local contractor Rick Musselman was employed to do the heavy machine work.

The area was then cleaned up and reseeded. This area should provide deeper water and cover for trout in the area. Another project is planned for this year if all goes well. This shows how your coalition dollars are being used to improve Yellow Creek. Get involved this year!
